20 June 2013, New York – The breadth and depth of Philippine national hero Dr. Jose Rizal's legacy was manifested in an evening of words, music, film, poetry and ceremony at a special commemorative event co-organized by the Knights of Rizal New York Chapter and the Philippine Consulate General in New York.

18 June 2013 – The Filipino community in Philadelphia has one more thing they can be proud of: the very first outdoor mural in the East Coast dedicated to the Philippines. Last 15 June 2013, the Filipino-American Association of Philadelphia (FAAPI) led by President Dr. Rommel Rivera and the City of Philadelphia Murals Arts Program unveiled "Alab Ng Puso" (Hearts Ablaze) located along Bustleton Avenue, Rhawnhurst in Northeast Philadelphia. Present in the event were Consul General Mario De Leon, Jr.; Councilman David Oh of the Philadelphia City Council; Ms. Jane Golden, Executive Director of the Mural Arts Program; Dr. Aida Rivera, State Chair for Pennsylvania of the National Federation of Filipino American Associations (NaFFA); and Mr. Eliseo Art Silva, the mural artist. The Filipino community in the area as well as neighboring cities came to witness the inauguration of the future landmark.

18 June 2013, New York – former Philippine President Fidel Valdez Ramos together with former DILG Secretary Rafael Alunan, former PNP Deputy Director General Reynaldo Velasco and writer Melandrew Velasco conducted a two day roadshow in New York and New Jersey.

11 June 2013 - Celebrations for the 115th Anniversary of Philippine Independence commenced in New Jersey with a Flag Raising Ceremony at the City Hall of Jersey City last 7 June 2013. Consul General Mario L. De Leon, Jr. joined Deputy Mayor Kabili Tayari and Mayor-elect Steven Fulop, Jersey City Council members including Filipino-American Councilman-at-Large Rolando Lavarro, officers and members of Philippine-American Friendship Committee (PAFCOM) and the rest of the Filipino community in the annual commemoration of Philippine Independence in Jersey City.
